Vietnamese students win six medals at International Maths Olympiad 2016
Vietnamese students have won six medals, including 1 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze at the 57th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) held recently in Hong Kong (China) from 6th - 16th July 2016.

Vu Xuan Trung from Thai Binh gifted school, the northern province of Thai Binh, won a gold medal. Six students were sent to the contest, and each of them has won a top prizes.
The four silver medals were presented to Dao Vu Quang from Hanoi – Amsterdam High School; Pham Nguyen Manh from a gifted school under Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City; Hoang Anh Dung from Lam Son gifted school, the province of Thanh Hoa and Le Nhat Hoang from Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Binh Dinh province.
Vu Duc Tai from Le Hong Phong Gifted High School (Nam Dinh province), won a bronze medal.
Vietnam ranked eleventh among 109 participating teams, trailing the United States of America (US), the Republic of Korea (RoK), the People’s Repulic of China, Singapore, Taiwan (Chinese Taipei), the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), Russian Federation, the United Kingdom (UK), Hong Kong (China) and Japan.

The IMO is the World Championship Mathematics Competition for High School students and is held each year in a different country. The first IMO was held in 1959 in Romania, with seven countries participating.
