The naval unit also presented them with national flags, life jackets and gifts, and distributed 500 documents and leaflets on fishing regulations.
On this occasion, rapporteurs of the Naval Region 4 popularised the Law of the Sea of Vietnam adopted in 2012, and the Prime Minister’s Directive No. 45 on some urgent tasks and solutions to deal with the European Commission (EC)’s “yellow card” warning on Vietnamese seafood.
Local fishermen were guided how to handle some incidents at sea as part of the programme.

On August 5, the Naval Region 4 High Command and other relevant units launched a programme called “Naval troops sponsor fishermen’s children” in Khanh Hoa province.
After the launching ceremony, the units announced to sponsor 35 children of fishermen in Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces.
Accordingly, the children will receive monthly financial support, necessities, medical examination and treatment, and medicines, and as well as vocational guidance.
The programme is of socio-political significance as it supports fishermen families and encourages them to maintain production and contribute to protecting Vietnam’s sea and islands sovereignty.
