Phung earlier bagged his own gold in the men’s freestyle inpidual for over-18 class and a silver in the inpidual of 18-30 years old.
His teammate Dung overcame nearly 70 rivals to triumph in the women’s inpidual for 18-30 years old. She also came third in the women’s freestyle inpidual for over-18.
The fifth tournament lured more than 530 athletes from 33 delegations. It is one of the events at which martial artists would receive points for their world ranking.
“The Lille Open is a prestigious competition which attracts a number of high quality athletes in Europe. Good results of Vietnamese participants will strongly encourage them when taking part in upcoming events,” said coach Nguyen Thanh Huy.
Vietnam will next compete at the Southeast Asian Taekwondo Championship for seniors and youth in March, the World Beach Taekwondo Championships in May and other Asian events for juniors in June./.
