The 2020 Phan Chau Trinh Cultural Foundation Awards ceremony was held recently in the central province of Quang Nam to honour outstanding individuals in the fields of culture, education, translation and research.
The honour was presented to 68 individuals, including one who has greatly contributed to the awards, two master’s degree holders, three master’s degree holders, one doctor, 43 outstanding university graduates, one student who recoded high result in the university entrance exam, and other outstanding students.
The funding for the 2020 Phan Chau Trinh Awards totaled more than VND240 million (USD 10,400).
The Phan Chau Trinh Cultural Foundation is a non-governmental organisation whose mission is to revive, conserve and promote Vietnamese cultural quintessence for the cultural renovation cause in the 21st century.
The awards honour the national hero, poet and cultural expert Phan Chau Trinh, a native of Quang Nam province.
Born in 1872, Trinh was a reformer who fought in the resistance movement against the French when he was very young. He devoted all of his life to the country's modernisation cause./.
