23 teams join Vietnamese Korean community’s largest football event
(VNF)- A football (soccer) tourney patronized by the Vietnamese Embassy in South Korea kicked off in Busan.
The fourth edition of the “Nhung Nguoi Con Dat Viet” (Offspring of Vietnam” football tournament drew nearly 800 players from 21 male teams and two female teams, according to a Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Seoul.
The players come from the central and southern regions of South Korea.
The one-day event wrapped up with Team Kyeongju nabbing the male football championship and Team Vietnam-Korea claiming the female football trophy.

The event, which attracted over 1,000 officials, spectators and cheerers, also featured a wide array of music performances, a beauty contest, and Vietnamese souvenirs displayed for sale.
The activities were meant to highlight the rich Vietnamese culture and the diligence and sense of discipline practiced by Vietnamese expats living and working in Korea.
“The much-awaited football tourney and accompanying art and cultural activities aim to bolster Vietnamese Koreans’ solidarity, and promote them as law-abiding, physically robust citizens to native businesses,” Nguyen Dinh Dung, First Secretary of the Vietnam Embassy in South Korea, said at the opening ceremony.
The event organizers, in coordination with the Association of Vietnamese people in South Korea, also raised funds for the safeguarding quest of Vietnam’s seas and islands.
Gifts were also given away to children of expat Vietnamese and Vietnamese-Korean families./.
