According to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the memorial ceremony was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the local authorities and relevant agencies at the memorial site in Soc Son commune.

The ceremony was attended by the Algerian Ambassador to Vietnam, Azeddine Becka, and the staff of the Algerian Embassy in Vietnam, and Nguyen Thi Bich Thuan, Deputy Director of the Middle East - Africa Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Head of the delegation. Representatives under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Steering Committee on the search, collection and identification of the remains of martyrs, the Policy Department, Ministry of National Defense, and the Vietnam-Algeria Friendship Association also attended. Representing Soc Son commune were Bui Bao Tuan, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Pham Quang Ngoc, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune.

At the ceremony, delegates emphasized that the sacrifice of Vietnamese and Algerian officials and journalists while carrying out their duties is a vivid testament to the spirit of international solidarity and the close ties between the two countries. Those who fell not only left behind sorrow but also became a symbol of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

Fifty-two years ago, on March 8, 1974, a plane carrying Algerian reporters and technicians along with some Vietnamese officials and journalists crashed in Soc Son while participating in a mission accompanying the official visit of the then President of Algeria to Vietnam. The accident resulted in 27 deaths, including many journalists and officials from both countries.

To commemorate those who sacrificed their lives, Vietnam built a memorial at the site of the accident. This structure has been renovated and upgraded several times, becoming a place of gratitude and a symbol of solidarity between Vietnam and Algeria.

Over the years, commemorative activities have been regularly organized with the participation of representatives from both countries. In Algeria, a memorial plaque has also been erected, and a street in the capital, Algiers, has been named "Vietnamese Journalists," showing respect for those who sacrificed their lives for the cause of information and friendship between the two nations.

The commemoration ceremony is not only an occasion to honor those who fell but also serves to remind today's generations of the value of peace, cooperation, and the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Algeria - a relationship nurtured by sharing, solidarity, and even noble sacrifices.
