This year’s holiday grants government officials, public employees, and workers four days off. Instead of returning to their hometowns or traveling abroad, many people have chosen to visit Hanoi with family and friends to attend the military parade, march, and other events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.
According to Lao Dong’s report on August 11, round-trip tickets from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi for August 30 - September 2 range from VND 4.3 million to 6.3 million. Returning on September 3 pushes prices up to VND 5-6.8 million.
To meet soaring travel demand, airlines have increased flight frequency, adding around 3,300 seats for the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route, equivalent to 18-20% more capacity than on regular days. As a result, there are still plenty of departure times available for passengers.

During the same period, round-trip fares from Da Nang to Hanoi range from VND 2.9 million to 4.4 million, Nha Trang - Hanoi from VND 2.7 million to 5 million, Da Lat - Hanoi from VND 2.9 million to 5.6 million, Hue - Hanoi from VND 2.5 million to 4.4 million, Quy Nhon - Hanoi from VND 2.4 million to 5 million, and Buon Ma Thuot - Hanoi from VND 3.6 million to 4.6 million.
Airfares to popular beach destinations such as Nha Trang and Da Nang have also risen during this period. For example, round-trip fares from Hanoi to Da Nang for August 30 - September 2 range from VND 3.5 million to 5.6 million, Hanoi - Nha Trang from VND 4.7 million to 7.1 million, Hanoi - Phu Quoc from VND 5.3 million to 6.3 million, Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc from VND 2.8 million to 4.2 million, and Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang from VND 3.1 million to 4.1 million.
According to Bui Thanh Tu, Marketing Director of BestPrice, both airfares and hotel room rates in Hanoi during this period have increased due to a sharp rise in tourist demand. The company’s bookings for flight-and-hotel packages have risen by around 25-30% compared to the same period last year, especially for the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route and centrally located hotels in Hanoi.
Given the surge in demand, airlines and travel companies recommend that travelers plan their trips early and book in advance to secure the best prices. Passengers traveling to Noi Bai Airport are advised to arrange their transportation ahead of time and plan their schedules carefully to avoid missing flights and disrupting their itineraries.
