That was the sharing of Bjørg Sandkjær, state secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway at a meeting with Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Dang Hoang An on May 12.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang An emphasized Norway's close and important cooperation with Vietnam over the past 50 years in industry, trade and energy. That contributes to bringing the turnover between the two countries to about US$500 million a year. Norway is the 41st investor out of 141 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.

The two countries are facing new cooperation opportunities as well as challenges for the next 10 years of development, especially in marine economy - the strength of both Norway and Vietnam.

Bjørg Sandkjær also said that Vietnam and Norway have many similarities such as geographical advantages in terms of long coastlines. That creates favorable conditions for the development of marine industries such as sustainable mariculture and offshore wind power.

With long-standing experience in maritime and offshore operations, Norwegian businesses have the advantage in the growing offshore wind market globally and in Vietnam particularly.

She also expressed her impression of Vietnam's strong commitment at COP 26. She also affirmed her willingness to support Vietnam with technology, experience, and financial solutions in the renewable energy industry.
