Ample Room to Further Enhance Vietnam-Bolivia Economic and Trade Relations

From August 4 to 8, authorized by President Luong Cuong, Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil and Bolivia, Bui Van Nghi, led a delegation from the Embassy to participate in commemorative activities marking the 200th anniversary of Bolivia’s Independence Day, at the invitation of President Luis Alberto Arce.
During a diplomatic meeting with the President of Bolivia, Ambassador Bui Van Nghi conveyed heartfelt congratulations from President Luong Cuong and senior Vietnamese leaders to the Bolivian government and people on this historic occasion. He reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation towards efficiency, substantiality, and mutual benefits.
On this occasion, Ambassador Bui Van Nghi also held talks with Bolivia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivering congratulations from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, Bui Thanh Son, on the 200th anniversary of Bolivia’s Independence Day.
In a working session with Ambassador Bui Van Nghi, Vice President of Bolivia David Choquehuanca expressed admiration for Vietnam’s struggle for independence, its Doi Moi (Renewal) process, and its successful international integration. He extended congratulations on the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution and Independence Day (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025).
Vice President Choquehuanca emphasized that Vietnam is a key partner for Bolivia in Asia and in the framework of South-South cooperation, especially as both nations are partners of the BRICS.

Vice President David Choquehuanca commended the ongoing dialogue between Bolivia and Vietnam, particularly the recent political consultations held between their foreign ministries. He underscored the considerable potential for economic and trade cooperation, noting that both countries have ample room to expand and deepen their partnership.
Bolivia stands ready to welcome Vietnamese enterprises into its mining sector and is eager to export key agricultural and forestry products, including quinoa, soybeans, corn, logs, and raw timber, to support Vietnam’s needs in consumption, manufacturing, and processing. At the same time, Bolivia has expressed interest in importing Vietnamese goods such as motorbikes, electric bicycles, trucks, footwear, garments, and automobile tires.
Ambassador Bui Van Nghi extended warm congratulations from Vietnam’s top leaders to the Government and people of Bolivia on the country’s Independence Day. He praised the longstanding friendship between the two nations, which has been nurtured and reinforced through strong ties among their Parties, States, and peoples.
Ambassador Bui Van Nghi expressed Vietnam’s desire to expand exports of key products, including textiles, footwear, rice, seafood, coffee, smartphones, computers, and electronic components, to meet Bolivia’s growing demand. He also called on Bolivia to support Vietnam in its efforts to negotiate and sign a Free Trade Agreement with Mercosur. He also called to maintain and enhance the exchange of delegations at all levels, as well as promote coordination and mutual support in multilateral forums.
During his meeting with Ambassador Bui Van Nghi, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Bolivia, Ignacio Mendoza, expressed his satisfaction with the positive developments in the relationship between the two Parties in recent years. He noted that the exchange of delegations, sharing of theoretical perspectives, and collaboration at international forums have played a vital role in deepening mutual understanding and strengthening trust between the two sides.

Mendoza expressed his special interest in Vietnam's foreign policy and its model of Doi Moi and integration, especially the country's approach to attracting investment and enhancing its business environment.
As part of his working visit, Ambassador Bui Van Nghi also met the Bolivian business community and presented the Decision to re-appoint Miguel Angel Pérez as Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Bolivia.
