At this year’s bazaar, each ASEAN country’s embassy presented two booths featuring unique cultural and culinary products, as well as artistic performances reflecting the cultural identity of each nation. According to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), in his opening remarks, Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia Shaharuddin Onn emphasized that the ASEAN Bazaar is not only a social activity but also a significant event symbolizing unity, solidarity, and cooperation - the core values of ASEAN, especially at a time when the region is facing many challenges.
The ambassador affirmed that ASEAN - built on a solid foundation with strong commitment and determination from its member states - will continue to face and overcome challenges together.
Ambassador Shaharuddin Onn stressed that ASEAN is not only a regional organization for security and politics or political economy, but is also shaping a regional community that is culturally diverse yet united, built upon three mutually supportive pillars: political-security, economic, and socio-cultural cooperation.
According to the Malaysian Ambassador, the joint effort of ASEAN embassies in Cambodia to organize the bazaar, with performances and unique cultural products from each country, reflects ASEAN’s spirit of cooperation, connection, and friendship. The event also helps promote and strengthen people-to-people links, contributing to building a united and resilient ASEAN Community.
Expressing his pleasure to attend, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn stressed that the bazaar clearly demonstrates the spirit of ASEAN, where nations - despite their diversity in traditions, history, and languages - come together as one family, bound by friendship and solidarity.
The Cambodian top diplomat remarked that culture and cuisine, in many ways, are among the most effective “natural diplomats.” Through these activities, the bazaar contributes to enhancing people-to-people exchanges and mutual understanding - key foundations of the ASEAN Community. He emphasized: “These bonds make the region more resilient, inclusive, and cohesive.”
