Banquet held to mark 70th anniversary of Vietnam-China diplomatic ties

The Chinese Embassy in Vietnam on January 15 held a banquet to celebrate the 70th founding anniversary of Vietnam – China diplomatic relations (January 18).
Attending the event, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh affirmed the friendship, which was nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and President Mao Zedong and generations of leaders of both countries, has become a valuable asset of the two nations.
Therefore, he said both nations must be responsible for preserving and promoting the traditional friendship, bringing practical benefits to the Vietnamese and Chinese people.
Deputy PM Binh stressed the Vietnamese Party, State and people always treasure the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with their Chinese counterparts, hoping the Chinese sides will work to develop the ties into a stable, healthy and sustainable manner.
He expressed his belief that with the dogged determination of high-level leaders, ministries, departments, sectors and people of both countries, the partnership will be unceasingly consolidated and elevated to a new height across the fields of economy, trade, investment and tourism for regional and global peace, cooperation and development.
Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo reviewed significant achievements in the bilateral ties in the past seven decades, underlining the year 2020 has important meaning for the two nations as China is building an comprehensively well-off society and realising its first “centenary goal” while Vietnam is marking the 90th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and playing the role as the ASEAN Chair 2020 and a non-permanent member at the United Nations Security Council.
To this end, he said both sides need to bolster cooperation, and together grasp development opportunities.
The Chinese diplomat wished Vietnam and China will continue to promote their traditional friendship, enhance political trust, and further the bilateral relationship into a deeper and more practical fashion, making more contributions to global peace, stability and human progress.

General Secretary and State President To Lam’s visit to China reaffirmed the determination and overarching direction of the top leaders of both Parties and countries to enhance strategic connectivity between the two nations in a new phase of development.
Throughout history, the people have served as a steadfast bridge and a “source stream” that nurtures and sustains the relationship, enabling Vietnam–China ties to continue advancing and expanding, said Party General Secretary and State President To Lam.
During his tenure, Venezuelan Ambassador to Viet Nam Juan Carlos Fernandes Juaréz promoted the signing of numerous important cooperation agreements, strengthened high-level exchanges, and expanded people-to-people interactions across various fields. In recognition of these contributions, on April 24 in Hanoi, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations presented him with the “For Peace and Friendship Among Nations” medal.
Significant strides in Viet Nam-Mongolia relations, from the elevation of ties to a Comprehensive Partnership to the signing of a visa exemption agreement and the expansion of people-to-people exchanges, bear the imprint of contributions by Mongolian Ambassador to Viet Nam Jigjee Sereejav. In recognition of these contributions, on April 24 in Hanoi, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations presented the “For Peace and Friendship Among Nations” medal to the Ambassador.
The 37-km Abyei-Agok strategic road in the Abyei area (South Sudan) has been completed and handed over to local authorities and the UNISFA mission by Vietnam’s Engineering Unit Rotation 4 after 85 days of construction, 35 days ahead of schedule. The project was described by the Mission Force Commander as an “unprecedented achievement” since the establishment of UNISFA.
On April 22, at the Gia Lai Provincial Conference Center (Quy Nhon Ward), the Gia Lai Union of Friendship Organizations solemnly held its first Congress for the 2026-2031 term. The Congress elected the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee, and the Inspection Committee for the 2026-2031 term. Le Kim Toan was elected President of the Gia Lai Union of Friendship Organizations for the 2026-2031 term.
On the evening of April 22, at Van Lake, Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam (Hanoi), the Friendship Exchange Program celebrating the traditional New Year festivals of several Asian countries in 2026 was held in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, contributing to enhanced mutual understanding and strengthened solidarity between the people of Vietnam and those of countries across the region.
Through a range of exchange, networking, and community support activities, the provincial Viet Nam-RoK Friendship Association has been contributing to enhancing mutual understanding and strengthening ties between the peoples of the two countries.
From April 16 to 21, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, in coordination with the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the People’s Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, jointly organized the program “Vietnam-China Border People’s Festival and Youth Red Study Tour 2026” in Guangxi, China.
