The event not only marked a new step forward in the relationship between BIDV and a reputable people-to-people diplomacy organization, but also reaffirmed BIDV’s strong commitment to fulfilling its social responsibility and promoting noble humanitarian values.
Recognizing outstanding contributions to people-to-people diplomacy
The working session was attended by senior leaders from both sides. Representing the guests were Dong Huy Cuong, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and Secretary-General of the Vietnam Peace Committee; Duong Thi Nga, Head of the Multilateral Affairs Department, along with other specialized officials.
On the BIDV side, attendees included Tran Xuan Hoang, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Member of the Board of Directors; Ta Phuong Tra, Standing Deputy Head of the Party Committee’s Propaganda Department; and representatives from the Trade Union and Youth Union - key units in implementing the bank’s political and social activities.
As part of the program, the Vietnam Peace Committee announced and presented the Certificate of Merit awarded by the President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations to Tran Xuan Hoang. In his capacity as a member of the Presidium of the Vietnam Peace Committee, Tran Xuan Hoang has made active and effective contributions in connecting corporate resources with people-to-people diplomacy, thereby helping promote the image of a peace-loving Vietnam to international friends.

Speaking at the ceremony, a representative of the Vietnam Peace Committee emphasized that the award is a well-deserved recognition of Tran Xuan Hoang’s individual efforts, as well as BIDV’s consistent support for the Committee’s activities over the years. It also demonstrates the convergence between modern economic governance thinking and the political responsibility of leadership in the context of deep international integration.
Discussing future cooperation: When “peace” is the foundation for “development”
Following the award ceremony, the two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on their cooperation plans for the coming period. The discussions focused on concretizing joint action programs, leveraging each side’s strengths in fulfilling political and community-oriented missions.
Accordingly, BIDV and the Vietnam Peace Committee agreed to prioritize key areas including: communication on peace and international integration; educating younger generations on traditions; and implementing sustainable social welfare programs.
Amid a world marked by increasing uncertainties, communication and education on the value of peace have become more urgent than ever. With its extensive network and large, dynamic workforce, BIDV is expected to serve as an effective channel for conveying the Vietnam Peace Committee’s messages to the public. In return, the Committee will support BIDV in positioning its brand in alignment with sustainable development values (ESG) and expanding its presence in people-to-people diplomacy forums.
Sharing at the session, Tran Xuan Hoang affirmed: “For BIDV, fulfilling our responsibility to the community is not only a political task but has become part of our corporate culture and a way of life rooted in compassion. We believe that a bank can only achieve sustainable development in a peaceful and stable world. Therefore, cooperation with the Vietnam Peace Committee is a strategic step for BIDV to contribute more to people-to-people diplomacy and to build the image of a responsible and humane Vietnamese enterprise.”
Synergizing strength for broader goals
To effectively implement the agreed contents, BIDV’s leadership assigned specific tasks to its internal units. The Party Committee’s Propaganda Department will serve as the focal point, working closely with the Vietnam Peace Committee to develop detailed action plans. Meanwhile, BIDV’s Trade Union and Youth Union have been tasked with studying and integrating themes of peace and friendship into their activities, with the aim of fostering a sense of responsibility among employees and young union members.
Strengthening cooperation between a major financial institution and a people-to-people diplomacy organization such as the Vietnam Peace Committee reflects an inevitable trend of the new era: businesses cannot remain detached from the issues of the time. As Vietnam strives to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and assert its position on the international stage, partnerships between “economics” and “people-to-people diplomacy” like that of BIDV and the Vietnam Peace Committee constitute an important source of internal strength.
Aspiration for peace and confidence in development
The working session concluded in an atmosphere of trust and strong determination from both sides’ leadership. The success of the meeting lies not only in the commitments made on paper, but more importantly in raising awareness of the role of each individual and organization in preserving and building peace.
For BIDV, the event further reinforces its position as a “For the community” bank, consistently taking the lead in social welfare and external engagement activities. For the Vietnam Peace Committee, collaboration with BIDV will help peace messages spread more widely, generating tangible and positive impacts on society.
