British Business Group Vietnam donates protective equipment for COVID-19 combat

Mr Alex Falter, BBGV Vice-Chairman and Mr Ian Gibbons – HM Consul General to Ho Chi Minh city handed over VND 500,000,000 to VYPA

Mr Alex Falter, BBGV Vice-Chairman, shared that the donation represented “our appreciation to Vietnam government' s efforts to keep all safe in this unprecedented health crisis. “

In an effort to support Vietnam, BBGV members are working together to collect a donation of over 500 million VND, which, with thanks to Vietnam Young Physician Association, has been used to purchase 2700 N95 masks and 2000 protective suits to support the Covid-19 fight in Vietnam. This donation will benefit healthcare workers and people on the frontlines managing the COVID-19 response in 5 major hospitals and testing institutes across Vietnam, including: Central Tropical Diseases Hospital Hanoi, Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh city, Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh city, Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang and Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology Hanoi

Representing the Vietnam Young Physician’s Association, Dr Phan Minh Hoang – Vice President of VYPA, emphasised their mission “Get the expertise to serve the community, and asked each young doctors must raise ethical, creative work”, expressed their appreciation to the British community and looking forward to having further collaboration with the BBGV in community services.

Sharing at the ceremony, Mr Ian Gibbons – HM Consul General to Ho Chi Minh city also expressed his appreciation to Vietnam government for its huge effort that is being made, collectively, in tackling the covid-19 pandemic and “The UK, including UK businesses, would like to ensure its full support and cooperation with Vietnam to get through this unprecedented coronavirus challenge.”.
