Celebrating 35 Years of Ho Chi Minh City Union Of Friendship Organizations

At the ceremony, Ho Xuan Lam, Vice President of HUFO, reviewed the formation and development process of HUFO over the past 35 years and affirmed that the organization has constantly innovated in content and form.

Until now, HUFO has developed 31 bilateral and multilateral associations, 4 clubs, and over 150 affiliated branches, creating a solid foundation for implementing people-to-people diplomacy activities in Ho Chi Minh City with an average of over 90 events held annually.

Mobilizing and receiving funding from over 170 foreign non-governmental and international organizations has supported poverty reduction projects for remote areas of Ho Chi Minh City. HUFO has also carried out well-aid projects on healthcare, education support, solving social problems, and enhancing the capacity of social organizations and communities to care for people, with an aid value of over 60 million USD/year.

Propaganda work for people-to-people diplomacy activities has been promoted to provide information on the development path of Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular, to gain support from the international community and strengthen the friendship between the city and other countries.

According to Ho Xuan Lam, many solidarity and friendship activities are associated with social and charity work. These activities are expanded through cultural, artistic, and sports exchanges, friendly spring trips, economic cooperation seminars, tourism and trade promotion between Vietnam and other countries, and talks on peace, integration, and development.

He also affirmed the achievements of HUFO are always associated with the leadership of the HCM City Party Committee, the guidance of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, and the cooperation of diplomatic agencies, foreign business associations, non-governmental organizations, city departments, branches, and individuals.

On this occasion, HUFO and many groups and individuals received the traditional flag, the Medal for Peace and Friendship among Nations, and certificates of merit from the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
