The Ambassador expressed deep appreciation for members who have maintained ties with Viet Nam for decades, including those who served on the International Commission for Control and Supervision (ICCS) overseeing the implementation of the Paris Peace Accords, as well as those who worked in the country and hold profound meories of Viet Nam and its people.
According to Ambassador Bui Le Thai, Viet Nam deeply values and remembers the precious contributions made by Hungarian friends during the years of struggle for national independence and reunification. The sincere bonds cultivated across generations have laid a special foundation for the friendship between the two nations.
In light of the changes occurring in Viet Nam and the world, the Ambassador suggested that people-to-people exchange activities also need to innovate. Beyond traditional activities, the Hungary - Viet Nam Friendship Association could expand exchanges in culture, education, and tourism; strengthen coordination with the Association of Vietnamese People in Hungary and other community organizations; and better leverage media and social networks to bring the image of Viet Nam closer to the Hungarian public.
The Ambassador emphasized the importance of ensuring generational continuity, specifically by attracting more young Hungarians to join the Hungary - Viet Nam Friendship Association, encouraging them to learn about and visit Viet Nam, and thereby carrying forward the cherished bonds nurtured by previous generations over the decades.
The Ambassador expressed a desire for the Hungary - Viet Nam Friendship Association and the Association of Vietnamese People in Hungary to enhance their cooperation and organize more practical activities that connect the peoples of both countries, while affirming that the Embassy of Viet Nam in Hungary will continue to accompany, support, and facilitate people-to-people exchange activities. In a cordial atmosphere, the delegates enjoyed traditional musical performances and distinctive Vietnamese dishes, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of Viet Nam’s culture, country, and people, while contributing to preserving, spreading, and carrying forward the traditional friendship between the two nations' peoples.
In 1973, at the age of 29, young officer Botz László arrived in Vietnam as part of the Hungarian delegation of the International Commission for Control and Supervision (ICCS) tasked with overseeing the implementation of the Paris Agreement. That peacekeeping mission opened the door to his lifelong attachment to the S-shaped country - a loyal affection that he has continued to nurture for more than half a century. |
