Dong Thap - Cheorwon (South Korea) Strengthen Cooperation in Diverse Fields

On October 31, leaders of the Dong Thap People's Committee visited and worked with leaders of Cheorwon, South Korea to promote the seasonal workers program and cooperative relations in diverse fields

At the meeting, Pham Thien Nghia - Chairman of Dong Thap People's Committee expressed his wish to strengthen cooperation in all fields of the two sides. He invited businesses in Cheorwon County and localities in Gangwon to explore investment cooperation opportunities in Dong Thap to further tighten the relationship between the two localities.

Lee Hyun-jong, Chief of Cheorwon County, highly appreciated the results of implementing the cooperation memorandum and believed that the cooperative relationship between the two localities would increasingly develop.

The two sides discussed and agreed to promote cooperation in diverse fields such as high-tech agriculture, trade, import-export, culture, education, tourism promotion, and technology transfer. They also signed a MoU between Dong Thap and Cheorwon for the period 2023 - 2028.

Dong Thap and Cheorwon have established relations since 2017. The two sides have implemented many activities, notably sending workers to work on a seasonal basis in the agricultural sector in Cheorwon.

From 2017 to 2022, 343 agricultural workers from Dong Thap were sent to work seasonally in Cheorwon. In 2023, Dong Thap continues to send 203 workers to South Korea, of which more than half work in Cheorwon. This is an opportunity for Dong Thap workers to increase their income, improve their family economy, and learn about high-quality agricultural production experience in the South Korean locality.
