From December 1-4, a delegation of the Vietnam Trade Union, led by Nguyen Dinh Khang, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), paid a working visit to India at the invitation of the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC). The visit took place in a friendly atmosphere, further affirming the traditional solidarity between the working class and trade union organizations of Vietnam and India.

As part of the program, Nguyen Dinh Khang held a high-level meeting with Amarjeet Kaur, General Secretary of the All India Trade Union Congress, together with leaders of AITUC and the Indian Banking Sector Trade Union. The two sides emphasized the decades-long close relationship between the VGCL and AITUC, and expressed appreciation for the support extended by progressive Indian people and AITUC union members to Vietnam during its struggle for national liberation.
At the meeting, the two organizations agreed to highly value the results of their cooperation in recent years, and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening delegation exchanges, sharing experiences in trade union activities, and coordinating mutual support at international forums to promote workers’ rights in each country.
During their stay in India, the Vietnamese Trade Union delegation held exchanges and discussions with many AITUC-affiliated sectoral trade unions on membership development, collective bargaining, and models for protecting workers’ rights in the new context. The delegation also visited the Mathura Refinery to learn about grassroots trade union organization and trade union activities within enterprises.

At the same time, the delegation focused on studying India’s experience in resolving labor disputes, implementing electronic labor contracts, and collective bargaining approaches in environments where multiple trade union organizations coexist. These exchanges are regarded as important practical lessons for the activities of Vietnam’s trade union organizations in the current process of renewal.
The visit contributed to strengthening the traditional friendship, deepening cooperation between the VGCL and AITUC, and opening up many more practical avenues for collaboration in the time ahead.
