The film week, organized by the People's Army Cinema (under the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army), also coincides with the 35th Anniversary of the All-People National Defense Festival (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024) and the 80th Anniversary of the Tradition Day of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024).
The film week will officially open at 7 pm on December 2 at the People's Army Cinema, 17 Ly Nam De Street, Hanoi.
During the film week, the organizing committee will present eight films, including four documentaries produced by the People's Army Cinema: "Firmly Advancing Under the Party’s Flag" (directed by People's Artist Luu Quy); "Advancing Under the Military Flag" - Part 1: "Fighting for Independence" (directed by Pham Thanh Hung), and "Advancing Under the Military Flag" - Part 2: "Ready to Defend the Nation" (directed by People's Artist Luu Quy); "Sacred Image" (directed by Nguyen Quang Quyet).
Four feature films produced by units and other domestic film studios include "The Fatal Gong" (directed by People's Artists Nguyen Khac Loi and Le Thi), "The Road with the Sun" (directed by Vu Anh Nhat), "Thau Chin in Siam" (directed by Bui Tuan Dung), and "Night in Ben Tre" (directed by People's Artist Tran Phuong).
Through the film week, the People's Army Cinema aims to send messages to officers, soldiers across the army, and the people about the significance, stature, and historical value of the Vietnam People's Army. The event emphasizes the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, the spirit of national unity, and the revolutionary tradition.
It seeks to enhance awareness and responsibility among various levels, sectors, and the people, especially the younger generation, to uphold patriotism, independence, self-reliance, and the determination to fight and win.
The selected works to be screened during the film week vividly depict and honor the image of “Uncle Ho's Soldiers,” reflecting high artistic and content value.
They also portray the 80 years of fight and development of the Vietnam People's Army - the heroic army of a heroic nation; an army born from the people, led by the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, fighting for the people. Marching under the military flag, the army has achieved national independence, freedom, and unification, and firmly defended the homeland.
