Foreign NGO Aid Helps Advance Sustainable Development in Lam Dong

On December 23, the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee held a conference to review the National Program on Strengthening Cooperation and Mobilizing Foreign Non-Governmental Aid for the 2019–2025 period. The conference assessed that efforts to attract, manage, and utilize aid resources over recent years have yielded positive results, thereby contributing to the promotion of sustainable development and ensuring social welfare across the province.

The conference was held in person at the provincial People’s Committee headquarters and connected online to local venues across the province. Attendees included Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Vice President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations; Hoang Van Bang, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Lam Dong Department of Foreign Affairs, along with representatives from provincial departments, agencies, local authorities, and foreign NGOs currently cooperating in Lam Dong.

In his opening remarks, Hoang Van Bang underscored the role of foreign non-governmental aid in supplementing resources for socio-economic development, particularly in remote and disadvantaged areas and regions with ethnic minority communities. He also affirmed that the province consistently attaches great importance to mobilizing, managing, and effectively utilizing aid resources in accordance with legal regulations and local development orientations.

Delegates assessed that foreign non-governmental aid programs and projects implemented in Lam Dong in recent years have been carried out in line with their objectives, reached the intended beneficiaries, and aligned with the province’s practical needs. These initiatives have contributed to improving people’s livelihoods, ensuring social welfare, and promoting the province’s socio-economic development.

Speaking at the conference, Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Vice President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, acknowledged and highly appreciated Lam Dong’s efforts in mobilizing, managing, and utilizing foreign non-governmental aid. He also expressed sincere gratitude to foreign non-governmental organizations for their continued support and cooperation with Vietnam, in general, and Lam Dong, in particular, over the years.

Looking ahead, Lam Dong will develop a list of priority projects for the 2026 – 2030 period, based on an assessment of the actual needs of each locality, as a foundation for attracting and mobilizing foreign non-governmental aid in line with the province’s development orientations. The province has also identified healthcare, agriculture, education, and social issues as priority areas for future aid mobilization.

On this occasion, the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to five organizations and five individuals in recognition of their outstanding achievements in implementing the National Program on Strengthening Cooperation and Mobilizing Foreign Non-Governmental Aid for the 2019 – 2025 period.
