Over five years of implementation, with a total disbursed budget of USD 18.39 million, the project has yielded practical results in strengthening the grassroots healthcare system and expanding social welfare services in the project areas. Notably, the project provided direct support to over 18,200 persons with disabilities across three provinces and cities of Quang Tri province, Hue, and Da Nang cities. This was achieved through a diverse range of services and support, including rehabilitation, social care, livelihood development, assistive devices, and home accessibility modifications.
Alongside direct support for persons with disabilities, the project heavily focused on capacity-building for healthcare staff through short-, medium-, and long-term training. A total of nearly 900 health professionals completed training, and 27 healthcare facilities were supported in establishing multidisciplinary rehabilitation models.
The workshop also featured a panel discussion titled "Quality of Life for Persons with Disabilities: Stories of the Present and the Future" featuring three persons with disabilities and one caregiver who benefited from different forms of project assistance. The panelists shared inspiring stories of personal transformation brought about by the project, highlighting improvements in their health, daily functioning, and social integration.
