The Vietnamese Ambassador to the US, Ha Kim Ngoc, attended the online launch of a book by former US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius on August 10 following an invitation from the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AmCham).

Speaking at the ceremony to introduce the book, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Ha Kim Ngoc Osius's great contributions to promoting great strides in Vietnam - US relations, especially the success of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's historic visit to the US in 2015. He is also the first US Ambassador to Vietnam to be honored with the Friendship Order by the President of Vietnam, reported VNA.

Upon detailing the book written by the former US diplomat, Ambassador Ngoc describes it as a very valuable reference for researchers, historians, scholars, students, and those who are directly involved in joint ties.

“Nothing is Impossible” – with a foreword by former Secretary of State John Kerry – tells an inspiring story of how international diplomacy can create a better world.

The primary message of the book is about the meaning and importance of building mutual trust and respect, especially in terms of each other's political institutions, thereby promoting reconciliation and co-operation between two peoples, Ambassador Ngoc said.

The local diplomat also shared the author's point of view that jointly supports and encourages the Vietnamese community in the US, especially the young generation, can turn their heart towards the homeland. This in turn can serve to promote the spirit of reconciliation and will help to strengthen the foundation for long-term relations, cited VOV.

Ambassador Ted Osius served from 2014 to 2017 as US Ambassador to Vietnam, a country he has loved since first serving in the 1990s when he helped open the US consultant and later when he was one of the first there at the US Embassy in Hanoi just after normalization of relations.

Ambassador Osius devised and implemented strategies to deepen security ties, signed tens of billions of dollars in commercial deals, expanded educational exchanges, concluded agreements on trade, law, and environmental protection, and addressed the US and Vietnam's difficult past, reported hanoitimes.

Respecting the good will that former Ambassador Osius gave to the nation, Ambassador Ngoc expressed strong belief in the bright future of the partnership, adding hope that it will feature good friends who are always devoted and wholeheartedly support the country as the former US diplomat did .

On this occasion, Ambassador Ngoc congratulated Osius on his recent election as the President and CEO of the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC).

Ngoc expressed his hope that Osius, in his new role, will make more active contributions to promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation between the US with Vietnam and ASEAN, VNA reported.

He thanked the valuable and practical contributions of the US business community and wished that they will continue to accompany, support for and cooperate actively with Vietnam to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic and achieve a sustainable economic recovery.
