The project is being implemented at Kim Xuyen High School in Hong Son Commune, Tuyen Quang Province, from January to December 2026, with a total budget of USD 108,000 (more than VND 2.8 billion). Funded by South Korea’s KSFC Group, the project is expected to directly benefit 1,526 students and 62 teachers at the school.

Unlike traditional library models that mainly serve reading and basic learning needs, the project is designed as a “comprehensive development space” for students. In addition to providing learning resources, the library will become a venue for career exploration activities, soft skills and life skills development, interactive reading activities, and connections between students and the real working world.

The project is being carried out at Kim Xuyen High School, which currently has more than 1,500 students, nearly 30% of whom are from ethnic minority groups, while many others come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Although students’ demand for learning resources, reading materials, and career guidance continues to grow, the school’s current library covers only about 60 square meters and contains around 3,000 outdated textbooks and reference books, many of which are no longer suitable today. In addition, the school lacks functional spaces for experiential education and skill development activities.

At a time when many young people in Vietnam still have limited access to career information, soft skills training, and practical experience before choosing future fields of study or jobs, the project is expected to help narrow the gap in educational access and development opportunities between students in urban areas and those in midland and mountainous regions.

Through the project, GNI and KSFC Group will support the construction of a modern multi-functional library; provide more than 2,000 additional books focusing on various skill-related topics; equip functional spaces for studying, reading, and experiential activities; and organize skill development programs, career guidance activities, and a Career Orientation Day for students.

In addition to investing in facilities, the project also focuses on strengthening teachers’ capacity through training courses on library operations and organizing skill development and career guidance activities for students. These activities are expected to create a positive learning environment, promote reading culture, and improve local youth’s access to career information.

Nguyen Tuyet Mai, Education and Child Protection Team Manager at GNI, shared that over the years, building libraries and promoting reading culture have always been among GNI’s key priorities. However, with the rapid development of technology and increasing demands for students’ skill development, GNI and KSFC aim to develop a new library model through this project - one that combines reading with skills development and career orientation for students, with the hope of helping build a stronger foundation for their future.

The project is currently in the process of constructing the multi-functional library, which is expected to be completed in July 2026. Once completed, the project will roll out awareness-raising and skills development activities for students and teachers at the school.
