French Frigate Prairial Visits Hai Phong City

This visit of the French frigate Prairial aims to further cooperation between the two navies and cultural exchanges between both countries.

The French frigate Prairial, commanded by Colonel Francois Maignan carrying 99 navy officers and crew, docked at Chua Ve port and began a courtesy visit to Hai Phong city from June 2-4.

On April 2, the welcome ceremony at Chua Ve port was attended by leaders of Department of Foreign Affairs of Hai Phong city, Colonel Frédéric Daumas - French Defense Attaché in Vietnam, representatives of the Command of Navy Region 1, the Military Command and the Border Guard Command of Hai Phong city.

This is the 4th time the frigate Prairial has visited Vietnam. During the visit, navy officers and sailors of the crew will pay courtesy calls to leaders of the People's Committee of Hai Phong City, the Command of Naval Region 1. They will also participate in sports and cultural exchange with officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Navy and visit historical and cultural relics in the locality.

Over the years, the defense cooperation between Vietnam and France has worked together for many successful ventures. This visit of the frigate Prairial is just the latest event promoting exchanges and cooperation between the two navies and the defense cooperation between both countries. This relationship has made practical contributions to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam-France (1973-2023) and the 10th anniversary of strategic partnership between both sides (2013-2023).
