Speaking at the gathering, Hoang Thai Lan, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association, highlighted the socio-economic achievements of the Republic of Bulgaria in recent years, especially its deep integration into the European Union and its official accession as a full member of the Schengen Area as of January 1, 2025. According to her, these advancements have not only enhanced Bulgaria’s international standing but also opened up additional opportunities for cooperation with partners, including Vietnam.
Hoang Thai Lan noted that Vietnam-Bulgaria relations have maintained positive momentum across various fields such as diplomacy, education and training, trade, and investment. Bilateral trade turnover has recorded steady growth in recent years, while educational cooperation remains a bright spot, with many generations of Vietnamese students having studied in Bulgaria and serving as important bridges in bilateral relations.
At the ceremony, Oleg Marinov, Counsellor of the Embassy of Bulgaria in Vietnam and Head of the Bulgarian Trade and Economic Office in Ho Chi Minh City, read a congratulatory letter from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to Vietnam, Pavlin Todorov.

In his letter, Ambassador Pavlin Todorov affirmed that 2025 holds special significance as the two countries celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, marking a long journey of cooperation and mutual trust. He commended the establishment of the “Bulgaria Corner” at Da Lat University, describing it as a practical initiative that contributes to strengthening cultural and academic exchanges as well as mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
The Ambassador expressed appreciation for the traditional friendship between Bulgaria and Vietnam and acknowledged the active role of friendship organizations and communities of those who had studied and worked in Bulgaria in nurturing bilateral ties.
The gathering took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the close bonds among generations of friends from both countries, while reaffirming the determination to continue expanding substantive cooperation, particularly in education, trade, and people-to-people exchanges, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnam-Bulgaria relations in the time ahead.
