The “Futuremakers” project, funded by the Standard Chartered Foundation through Plan International Vietnam, was recently officially launched in a Hanoi ceremony.

The project is part of the global initiatives called 'Futuremakers' by Standard Chartered, which aims to support vulnerable young people – particularly women and persons with disabilities – to access vocational training, develop essential skills, and find sustainable employment opportunities.

In Vietnam, the project will be implemented by Plan International Vietnam in collaboration with the Hanoi Vocational College of Industry (HNIVC) and the Bac Thang Long Economic–Technical Intermediate School (BTL) from 2025 to 2027. It aims to support 2,000 disadvantaged young people (of whom 70% are women and 5% are persons with disabilities) to participate in short-term vocational training and soft skills courses tailored to market demand.

At the launch event, Trinh Nhu Quynh, Head of Corporate Affairs, Marketing, and Brand at Standard Chartered Bank Vietnam, delighted to continue partnering with Plan International to implement the next phase of this project. ‘Confidently Forward’ helps thousands of young people overcome barriers, secure employment, and contribute positively to their communities.”

Le Quynh Lan, Country Director of Plan International Vietnam emphasized that over the years, Plan International Vietnam has worked closely with partners to successfully implement many market-oriented vocational training projects, aiming to support disadvantaged youth – especially girls – to have the opportunity to learn a trade, be equipped with necessary skills, be introduced to jobs and have a stable income after graduation. She expects that the success of the project, especially of the young female participants, will be a vivid demonstration of Plan International Vietnam’s commitment to supporting 2 million girls, young women and young people to exercise their rights, create a green and sustainable future, in line with their strategy until 2027.

Meanwhile, Tu Anh, a 12th-grade student majoring in Tourism and Hospitality and a participant from the previous phase of the project, shared, “Before joining the Futuremakers project, I was quite shy and unsure about my future path. Thanks to the short-term training at HNIVC and the soft skills classes offered by the project, I gained a deeper understanding of the value of the tourism industry, learned how to communicate, work in teams, and perform confidently in interviews. After completing the course, I was connected with businesses and had the opportunity to work part-time in the food and tourism sector – allowing me to study while gaining real-life experience. What I treasure most is not just having a profession, but believing in myself – exactly as the project name. I'm making my own future.”
