To Lam Elected as Party General Secretary
	Timor-Leste Seeks Cooperation in Vietnam's Strengths

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: At the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping and his wife, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam and his wife will pay a State visit to the People's Republic of China from August 18 to 20, 2024.

On August 3, 2024, following the election of Politburo member and President To Lam as the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, General Secretary and President of China, Xi Jinping, extended a congratulatory message.

In the message, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping affirmed that in recent years, the Communist Party of Vietnam has thoroughly implemented the spirit of the Resolution of the 13th National Congress. The Party has significantly advanced its party building work, leading to new accomplishments in fostering the development of socialism, rennovation and opening-up.

"I am willing to join General Secretary To Lam in leading the building of an increasingly substantial and in-depth China-Vietnam Community with a Shared Future, jointly promoting traditional friendship, consolidating political trust, deepening strategic exchanges, promoting substantive cooperation, bringing more happiness to the people of the two countries, and actively contributing to the cause of peace and progress of mankind," General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping wrote, wishing General Secretary and President To Lam "new achievements in his noble position."

From December 12 to 13, 2023, China's General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and his wife conducted a State visit to Vietnam. In the course of this visit, the two nations proclaimed the establishment of a Vietnam-China Community with a Shared Future that carries strategic significance, aiming for the well-being of both countries' people and the advancement of peace and human progress.

Also during this visit, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his wife, late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and his wife met with Vietnamese-Chinese intellectuals and young generations.
