Passengers from Ho Chi Minh City will not have to undergo quarantine at concentrated establishments for a week when they travel to Hanoi and Hai Phong.

The two major cities have decided to impose seven-day home quarantine for passengers from HCM City.

The Hanoi People’s Committee on October 11 issued a document on the pilot resumption of regular domestic flights to/from the capital city.

Accordingly, there will be only one round trip a day from October 10-12 with flights carrying only half of their passenger capacity.

The same day the Hai Phong People’s Committee also issued a document on the control of passengers to/from Cat Bi International Airport when domestic flights are resumed.

Passengers coming from high-risk areas will have to self-monitor their health for 14 days, and take Covid-19 tests on the second and seventh days. Meanwhile, those coming from at-risk or new normal areas will undergo 14-day home quarantine, and will be tested once after one week.

The entire cost of travelling and testing is covered by the passengers.

At 5pm on October 11, Vietnam Airlines’ VNA216 flight departed from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, carrying nearly 120 passengers on wide-body Boeing 787. It was the first commercial flight between HCM City and Hanoi after several domestic routes reopened a day earlier.

Two days ago, Hanoi and Hai Phong required people arriving from HCM City by air to be quarantined at concentrated facilities or designated hotels for seven days.

The Ministry of Transport requires all passengers to be fully vaccinated at least 14 days or have recovered from Covid-19 six months prior to their departure. Everyone should also furnish Covid-19 negative results obtained within 72 hours.
