Hanoi Offers Free Bus and Train Rides for Independence Day Holiday
From August 29 to September 2, Hanoi offers free rides on buses and two urban railway lines, while also deploying additional transport arrangements to meet the travel needs of residents and tourists.

According to the Hanoi Public Transport Management and Operation Centre, public transport services, including buses and urban railways, will be free of charge from August 29 to September 2, 2026, to meet increased travel demand among residents and tourists during the Independence Day holiday.
The Cat Linh–Ha Dong urban railway (Line 2A) and the elevated section of the Nhon–Hanoi Station line (Line 3.1) will operate daily from 5:30 am to 10:00 pm, with trains running at approximately 10-minute intervals.
Under the plan, Line 2A will operate around 203 trips per day, while Line 3.1 will run approximately 200 trips daily, helping increase public transport capacity and facilitate travel and sightseeing during the five-day holiday.

| During the Independence Day holiday, Hanoi will deploy 42 standby buses, which can provide around 100 additional trips to help ease passenger congestion when needed. |
Alongside the urban railway system, Hanoi’s bus network will operate from 4.30 am to 10.30 pm, with services running at intervals of between five and 30 minutes, depending on the route.
The network is expected to handle more than 17,000 trips per day during the holiday. About 17,335 trips are scheduled for August 30, while the daily total is expected to peak at around 17,645 trips on August 29 and 31.
