Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Associations Appoint New Leaders for 2026-2031 Term

Four member friendship associations under the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations: The Viet Nam-Sweden Friendship Association, the Viet Nam-Indonesia Friendship Association, the Viet Nam-Canada Friendship Association, and the Viet Nam-RoK Friendship Association, held Executive Committee meetings to appoint their presidents for the 2026-2031 term from June 2 to 5, 2026.

At the meetings, representatives of the leadership of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations presented official recommendations introducing respected and experienced individuals with expertise in people-to-people diplomacy for consideration by the Executive Committees of the member associations. The consultation process resulted in the following appointments:

The Executive Committee of the Viet Nam-Sweden Friendship Association unanimously agreed to appoint Nguyen Truong Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Party Organization, as President of the Viet Nam-Sweden Friendship Association.

The Executive Committee of the Viet Nam-Indonesia Friendship Association unanimously agreed to appoint Nguyen Minh Nhut, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, as President of the Viet Nam-Indonesia Friendship Association.

The Executive Committee of the Viet Nam-Canada Friendship Association unanimously agreed to appoint Dang Quoc Toan, Member of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Deputy Head of the Organization Commission of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, as President of the Viet Nam-Canada Friendship Association.

The Executive Committee of the Viet Nam-RoK Friendship Association unanimously agreed to appoint Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Member of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation, as President of the Viet Nam-RoK Friendship Association.

In their remarks upon accepting the appointments, the newly elected presidents expressed their determination to work closely with the Standing Committees and Executive Committees of their respective associations to uphold unity and responsibility. They pledged to continue innovating the content and methods of operation, enhance the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy, and contribute to strengthening friendship and cooperation between the people of Viet Nam and those of other countries.
