Ho Chi Minh city: VND950 billion to be spent on Tet gifts
Hundreds of thousands of presents will be granted to beneficiaries and poor families in Ho Chi Minh city on the occasion of the 2016 lunar New Year.

Accordingly, 775 senior revolutionary contributors, living Vietnamese heroic mothers, seriously wounded soldiers and war resistance activists infected with toxic chemicals and losing 81% of working ability will be provided with presents worth VND2.6 million each.
Nearly 1,900 heroes of the armed forces and heroes of labour will receive presents worth VND1.4 million each. Meanwhile, 115 disadvantaged families whose members are on duty at the Spratly Islands and DK1 frame-house will be assisted with VND1.5 million each.
Besides, nearly 60,000 poor families who have incomes below VND21 million per year, will be presented with gifts worth VND950,000 each. The elderly of 80 years old or more, and over 44,600 people receiving regular social allowances, will receive similar gifts.
In addition, over 194,300 officials working in administrative agencies will be assisted with VND1.2 million as presents, while more than 261,000 other revolutionary contributors will receive presents worth VND1.06 million each./.
