| Floods caused by torrential rain in central Vietnam over the past few days have left 17 dead and 11 missings, while a new tropical low depression is coming near, VOV reported. Quang Tri province was the hardest hit as flash floods have killed 6 local residents during the past five days. Six others were reported missing. Severe flooding was reported in parts of the province, affecting 122,000 residents. Elsewhere, floods have claimed three dead each in Hue and Quang Nam, one each in Quang Binh, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, and Lam Dong. Rescue forces are fanning out to search for 11 people reported missing at the violent floodwaters. After slamming into central provinces on October 11, storm Linfa weakened into a tropical low depression, causing heavy rain in the central region. Yet rain will continue to lash the region as another tropical low depression has formed in the East Sea and is heading toward the central coast in the coming days, according to the National Centre of Hydro-meteorological Forecasting. |
