Hungarian Ambassador to Vietnam Awarded “For the Cause of Culture, Sports and Tourism” Medal

According to information from the Department of International Cooperation under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong acknowledged and highly appreciated Ambassador Baloghdi Tibor’s contributions to the fields of culture, sports, and tourism in recent years. The Deputy Minister affirmed that the Ambassador has consistently devoted great effort to promoting cooperation and exchanges between Vietnam and Hungary, thereby contributing to stronger friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.

Throughout his tenure in Vietnam, Ambassador Baloghdi Tibor actively coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and relevant agencies to effectively organize numerous important events, helping enhance the quality of event organization while promoting the image and cultural values of both countries to the international community. The Deputy Minister expressed his hope that, even after completing his diplomatic mission in Vietnam and regardless of any future position he may hold, Ambassador Baloghdi Tibor would continue to maintain his interest in and affection for Vietnam in general, as well as for cultural, sports, and tourism cooperation between Vietnam and Hungary.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hungarian Ambassador to Vietnam Baloghdi Tibor stated that during his tenure in Vietnam, he and the staff of the Embassy of Hungary had consistently received active and effective support from Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Reflecting on the cultural exchange activities organized over the years, the Ambassador highly valued the richness and diversity of cultural and artistic programs between the two countries. He noted that the support and close coordination of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism had been among the key factors contributing to the success of these events.

Ambassador Baloghdi Tibor also emphasized that, in the current context, culture is playing an increasingly important role in social life. In particular, cultural spaces such as theaters and museums continue to affirm their value and practical significance amid rapid technological development.

Expressing confidence in the prospects for cooperation between the two countries, the Ambassador voiced his hope that cultural, sports, and tourism exchanges and cooperation between Vietnam and Hungary would continue to expand in the coming years, contributing to the increasingly substantive, effective, and comprehensive development of bilateral relations.

Ambassador Baloghdi Tibor has served three terms in Vietnam, including as Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Hungary in Hanoi (2003-2006), Consul General of Hungary in Ho Chi Minh City (2015-2020), and Ambassador of Hungary to Vietnam (from 2022 to the present). As he concludes his third term in Vietnam - a country with which he has been closely associated for more than 20 years, the Ambassador affirmed that, regardless of the position he may hold in the future, he will continue to contribute to the development of relations between the two countries in general, and to bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture, sports, and tourism in particular.
