According to IMD, rain occurred at one or two places in Kerala and dry weather prevailed over Lakshadweep. Chief amounts of rainfall in cm are: Konni (Pathanamthitta district) 2, Kurudamannil (Pathanamthitta district) 1. Minimum temperature fell appreciably in Palakkad district and no large change elsewhere over Kerala during the past 24 hours. However it was above normal in Kannur district and remained normal elsewhere over Kerala. Punalur recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 210C.

Rain or thundershower is most likely to occur at one or two places in Kerala and dry weather is most likely to prevail over Lakshadweep.

5-Day Nationwide Weather Forecast

According to Weather.com, a western disturbance and an induced cyclonic circulation are located over North Pakistan and could persist for the next 2 or 3 days. The systems are expected to affect the Western Himalayan Region in this period, causing widespread snow or rain with thunderstorms over Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, and scattered to fairly widespread snow or rain with thunderstorms over Himachal Pradesh from Thursday to Saturday.

Further, heavy rain/snow is very likely at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on Thursday and Friday, and over Himachal Pradesh on Friday. Scattered snow or rain with thunderstorms are on the cards over Uttarakhand on Saturday. Isolated rain is possible over the plain areas of Northern India on Friday and Saturday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also forecast isolated hailstorms over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad on February 25, and over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on 26th February.

With heavy precipitation likely to come Jammu & Kashmir’s way over the next 48 hours, the Srinagar-Leh highway will be reopened for traffic only after the forecasted conditions subside—on Sunday, February 28.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), an ongoing western disturbance is expected to bring widespread rainfall/snowfall and isolated thunderstorms over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad over the next three days.

Furthermore, the aforementioned territories will also experience isolated hailstorms on Thursday, and isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall conditions on Thursday and Friday.

In view of these predictions, an orange alert has been issued over Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh on Thursday, and over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Friday. The advisory urges residents to 'be prepared' for rough weather.

A cyclonic circulation is located over Northeast India, and is set to produce isolated snow or rain and thunderstorms over Northeast India in this period. Dry weather is likely over other areas in this forecast period.

Maximum temperatures will be slightly warmer or warmer than normal across India in this forecast period, whereas minimum temperatures will be warmer than normal over North India and slightly warmer over South India in this period.

Heavy rain/snow is very likely at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh. Widespread rain/snow and thunderstorms are on the horizon over Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

Fairly widespread rain/snow and thunderstorms are expected over Himachal Pradesh. Isolated rain/snow and thunderstorms are possible over Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Uttarakhand, while just isolated rain and thunderstorms are on the cards over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Kerala.
