The project is part of Japan's non-refundable aid cooperation program "Socio-economic Development Plan". Japan will provide servers and storage equipment to support system upgrades for the center, promoting Vietnam's digital transformation.
Ambassador Ito Naoki praised the significant progress Vietnam has made in digitalization in recent years. He emphasized that further promoting digital transformation has become a top priority for Vietnam, especially since General Secretary To Lam outlined the strategic direction for a new era. He believes that donating materials and equipment to the National Population Data Center presents a great opportunity for Vietnam to advance its development goals.
"We are honored to contribute to Vietnam's reform process through specific cooperation under the Japan-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership," said Ambassador Naoki, expecting the relationship to grow stronger.
Vietnam aims to become a developed country by 2045, with digitizing administrative services and the socio-economic system being crucial to this transformation. In Vietnam, chip-based ID cards are used to carry out administrative procedures. In the future, these ID cards will enable access to various public services, simplifying administrative processes and improving service quality and convenience. Upgrading the information technology system of the National Population Data Center is an urgent requirement to realize these goals.
