In the letter, Member of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, and Chairman of the Lao Committee for Peace and Solidarity Sommad Pholsena expressed his delight at the fact that, throughout the past 80 years, the Vietnamese people have attained many significant and historic accomplishments. Most notably, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people waged a struggle against foreign invaders, secured victory, and completed national reunification in 1976. Subsequently, the Party directed the process of Doi Moi (Renewal), which enabled the country to achieve strong political development, expand its economy, advance in science and technology, and modernize its cultural life.

The Lao Vice Chairman of the National Assembly emphasized that, in the new era, the Communist Party of Vietnam continues to lead the people in successfully fulfilling the mission of safeguarding and developing the country. This has helped ensure political stability, maintain social order, achieve rapid economic growth, strengthen national defense and security, expand foreign relations, elevate Vietnam’s position regionally and internationally, and continuously improve the people’s living standards.

“The achievements of the Vietnamese people have become a tremendous source of encouragement and strength for our Lao People’s Democratic Republic,” he wrote, while extending his best wishes for the Vietnamese people to achieve greater successes in the future.

Vice Chairman Sommad Pholsena expressed his pride and honor that the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries have been preserved, further consolidated, deepened, and yielded fruitful results. In recent years, the high-level leaders of the two Parties and States, as well as ministries, sectors, and localities from the central to local levels, have carried out numerous visits and effective cooperation activities. These have made important contributions to the cause of national construction and development in each country, bringing tangible benefits to the people of Laos and Vietnam.

He emphasized that the year 2025 holds profound significance for both countries, as they celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, the 50th anniversary of Laos’s National Day, the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and the 48th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation. The two countries have been closely coordinating to prepare commemorative activities in each country and to support one another to ensure the success of these events.

On this occasion, the Lao Vice Chairman of the National Assembly expressed his deep gratitude to the Party, State, and people of Vietnam for the valuable, timely, and effective assistance they have extended to the Lao people during the struggle for national liberation as well as in the current process of national construction and development. He affirmed his continued commitment to exerting his utmost efforts to promote close cooperation between the two Peace Committees, thereby contributing to consolidating and strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.

Sommad Pholsena extended his best wishes to the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Peace Committee and the entire Vietnamese people for good health, happiness, and success. He also wished that Laos-Vietnam relations will always remain strong and everlasting.
