The 2023 Lunar New Year for Luong Xuan Hoa, an overseas Vietnamese in Thailand, is a special Tet. That's because he has the honor and pride to represent the overseas Vietnamese community in Thailand to return home and attend the Spring Homeland Program 2023. It was organized by the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese - Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He said that being able to celebrate Tet in Vietnam after 2 years outside the country due to the COVID-19 epidemic made overseas Vietnamese like himself feel very special. They were moved to tears when they witnessed the changes and development of their homeland.

Hoa excitedly shared that on this occasion, he was able to participate in a series of activities such as visiting the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. He was allowed to free fish according to tradition and was warmly received by the Party and State leaders. In addition, he was able to participate in the Vietnamese food festival and art exchange at the National Convention Center, as well as the overseas Vietnamese meeting program organized by the Voice of Vietnam.

Luong Xuan Hoa said that the policies of the Party and the State of Vietnam for overseas Vietnamese make overseas Vietnamese like he always feels warm when they return and wish to contribute to the development of their homeland.

In the past year, right when Vietnam had just reopened after the COVID-19 pandemic, Hoa joined the group of overseas Vietnamese businesses in Thailand, led by the Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh. They returned home to visit and learn about business cooperation opportunities with businesses in 6 provinces and cities including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Kien Giang, and Bac Giang.

Through this trip, Hoa and many other overseas businessmen have witnessed the development of their homeland with their own eyes. They have a better understanding of the policies of the Party and State towards overseas Vietnamese and the policies of attracting investment, trade, and tourism to each locality. Thanks to that, he became more and more confident in the leadership of the Party for the cause of the development and protection of Vietnam. He affirmed that even though he was born and raised in a foreign land, Vietnamese blood still flows in his family.

As a successful businessman in Thailand, Hoa still has a strong desire to become a Vietnamese citizen. According to him, this is meant not only for people his age but also helps the descendants to maintain a bond with their roots.

“If we have Vietnamese nationality, our children will inherit it as Vietnamese. It will be more convenient to go back to the country to buy land and set up a company. At the same time, there will be a new generation of young Vietnamese people in Thailand."

As the President of the Vietnamese Association in Udon Thani province - where the largest number of Vietnamese people live and do business in Thailand - he also clearly feels that the Party and State are increasingly interested in connecting with the overseas community.

For example, last year, a conference connecting overseas Vietnamese businesses in Thailand with those in Laos and Vietnam was held for the first time in Udon Thani province. It has become a forum for overseas Vietnamese businesses in Thailand and Laos to have the opportunity to meet and exchange directly with domestic businesses to find directions as well as open up new business opportunities.

Luong Xuan Hoa also expressed his desire to soon have a Vietnamese bank operating in Thailand to facilitate people in doing business and sending money back home.

"I know that there are 3 Thai banks operating in Vietnam, but Vietnam has not opened any banks in Thailand."

A new spring has come, bringing new beliefs and aspirations for overseas businessman Luong Xuan Hoa. He has faith in the development path that the Party has chosen for Vietnam. Hoa also aspires to have new achievements to further connect with his roots.
