A photo exhibition on the impact of climate change opened on June 25, organized by Can Tho University, Can Tho City Union of Friendship Organizations in collaboration with the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City, NDO reported.

Attending the opening ceremony were Daniel Stork, consul general of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City; Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep, member of the City Party Committee, vice chairman of the Can Tho People's Committee of and representatives of departments, agencies and branches of the city.

On behalf of Can Tho University, there were Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, former rector, chairman of the Can Tho's Vietnam - US Friendship Association; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hieu Trung, vice rector, chairman of the Can Tho's Vietnam - Netherlands Friendship Association, along with leaders of faculties, offices, staff, lecturers and students.

The exhibition features over 50 photographs taken by 12 photographers from Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia.

These images illustrate the effects of climate change on water resources and livelihoods across the Mekong sub-region, as well as the adaptive responses of local communities to its increasingly severe consequences.

Through this exhibition, the public, particularly students, are being offered a deeper understanding of the current realities and consequences of climate change on human life.

The exhibition aims to raise awareness of the severity of climate change, inspiring each visitor to take action in protecting the planet, addressing climate change, and contributing to sustainable development.

In addition, the exhibition serves to strengthen the cooperative and friendly ties between Can Tho and the Netherlands, commemorating the 15th anniversary of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Netherlands on climate change adaptation and water management (2010 - 2025).

The exhibition will run until July 16.
