Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Vuong Dinh Hue and Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives Habib El Malki agreed to increase all-level visits and people-to-people exchange as well as mutual support at regional and international forums, during their online talks on July 7.

The two leaders shared the view that in the time ahead, their countries should step up bilateral trade and investment while boosting investment promotion and business matching activities, the VNA reported.

They expressed their delight that the Vietnamese community in Morocco have integrated well into the local society.

Both sides also agreed to keep close coordination at multilateral forums and support each other’s stances on regional and international issues of common concern.

Chairman Hue affirmed that Vietnam is ready serve as a gateway for Morocco to enhance cooperation with other ASEAN countries.

In response, El Malki said his country is also willing to act as a bridge for Vietnam to intensify partnership with African nations.

He said Morocco wishes to cooperate with Vietnam in automobile industry, aviation, agriculture, sustainable development, renewable energy, and wind and solar power.

Morocco is also ready to share its success stories in developing agriculture and renewable energy like wind and solar power with Vietnam, the Speaker went on.

He pledged favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Morocco to integrate well into the local society.

Meanwhile, the top legislator of Vietnam voiced his belief that based on the sound political ties, the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries will flourish more strongly for the sake of their people as well as for peace, stability, and development in each country, their respective regions, and the world as a whole./.

On March 27, 1961, representatives of Morocco and Vietnam signed their first treaty establishing ties. Ever since the relationship between the two countries has been one of mutual respect and trade, according to Morocco World News.

Morocco and Vietnam have been keen trade partners ever since the establishment of diplomatic relations. Trade between the two countries has been growing over the decades. Vietnam exported roughly $237 million in goods to Morocco in 2019, with Morocco exporting $24 million to Vietnam.

Vietnam exports its coffee, textile, and broadcasting equipment to Morocco, while the north African country in turn exports mainly animal feed and clothing to Vietnam. Over the last 24 years, Vietnamese exports to Morocco have grown by 17.3% annually while Morocco’s exports are growing at 29.9% annually.
