The Vietnamese embassy in Canada has recently organized a donation program to support the Vietnam Covid-19 vaccine fund.

At the launch ceremony, all employees of the embassy and representative agencies of Vietnam in the area spent a day's salary to support the Covid-19 vaccine fund.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada Pham Cao Phong informed people about the urgent anti-pandemic situation in the country, especially large outbreaks such as in Bac Giang, Bac Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City. The ambassador alsomentioned the moving examples of the "white shirt warriors" and the armed forces, who faced difficulties and hardships in a "gunless war."

Ambassador Pham Cao Phong emphasized that overseas Vietnamese can contribute in different ways, such as informing the embassy about reliable sources to access the Covid-19 vaccine, information on vaccine production materials, as well as mobilizing human and financial resources to help the country respond to the pandemic.

Overseas Vietnamese are excited about the possibility that by September 2021, Vietnam will have the first domestically produced Covid-19 vaccine. They expressed their firm belief in the leadership of the Party and the government, and were optimistic about the country's ability to overcome difficulties and defeat the pandemic.

The event attracted the participation of a large number of Vietnamese across Canada, from Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal, to Saskatchewan and Vancouver.

Tran Van Vi, an overseas Vietnamese in his 80s, traveled more than 200 kilometers to the embassy's headquarters to contribute a month's pension to support the Covid-19 vaccine fund, with the expectation that "the pandemic in Vietnam pass quickly so we can return to our homeland.”

Bui Quang Hien, director of Stechco Consulting, Investment and Construction Company, who has settled in Canada for more than 10 years, said: “I feel I have a responsibility to contribute to the Covid-19 vaccine fund. My family and I will try our best to contribute a small part to this fund.”

Consulate General of Vietnam in Texas launches support for vaccine fund

Responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Houston, Texas, held a launching ceremony to support the Covid-19 vaccine fund in Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General Nguyen Trac Ba highlighted the efforts and successes of the Party, government and people of Vietnam in pandemic prevention, with the top priority being epidemiological hygiene, disinfection, application of tracing and rapid testing technology and vaccination.

Although the pandemic in the country is under control, the risk of a resurgence is still very high, with the appearance of new strains. Therefore, Consul General Nguyen Trac Ba emphasized the significance of the establishment of the Covid-19 vaccine fund. He said the the fund would mobilize resources for social contributions to share with the state budget for the purchase and import of vaccines, allow research and produce domestic vaccines and implement comprehensive vaccination for Vietnamese people.

The Consul General called and thanked the Vietnamese community in Texas for promoting great national unity, mutual affectio, and joining hands with the people in the country to respond to the call to support Covid-19 prevention.

On Friday, the ceremony raised a total of US$ 25,560. Many relatives in remote states who did not attend the ceremony also asked relatives and friends to transfer donations to the Consulate General.

This donations will last until the end of June 2021. All donations will be sent by the Consulate General to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Central Vietnam Fatherland Front to be transferred to the Covid-19 vaccine fund.
