During the meeting, President Rumen Radev recalled with deep impression his official visit to Vietnam in November 2024, expressing heartfelt emotions when reminiscing about the gathering with Vietnamese individuals who had studied and worked in Bulgaria, an event organized by the Association in Hanoi.

President Rumen Radev affirmed that Vietnam is a traditional friend and an important partner of Bulgaria in the region. He emphasized that educational cooperation and cultural exchange are sustainable and long-lasting bridges for promoting and expanding collaboration across all other fields.

Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet expressed her appreciation for the President’s attention to people-to-people diplomatic activities between the two countries.

Introducing many members of the delegation who had been trained in Bulgaria and later became experts, scientists, and generals in Vietnam, actively contributing to the cause of national defense and development, the Ambassador described this as an invaluable asset, comprising individuals who play a vital role in strengthening the bonds of friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Bulgaria.

Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association of Hanoi Le Thu Ha shared highlights of the Association's recent activities. Each year, the Association organizes celebrations for major Bulgarian holidays such as the Day of Slavic Culture, Education and Alphabet (May 24), Bulgaria’s National Day (March 3), and Students’ Day (December 8).

Many members enthusiastically participate in learning traditional Bulgarian songs and dances, and preparing Bulgarian cuisine. Le Thu Ha affirmed that the Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association would continue striving to fulfill its role as a bridge, maintaining the close and enduring friendship between the two countries.

On this occasion, she proposed that Bulgaria enhance student exchanges with Vietnam and consider further facilitating Vietnamese visitors, particularly those who once studied or worked in Bulgaria and now wish to revisit what they consider their second homeland, the “Land of Roses.”

Earlier, at the headquarters of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet and the delegation also met with Tudor Stoyanov, Director General for Bilateral Relations, and Nataliya Misheva, Head of the Asia-Oceania Department.
