Based on flight search data, the ranking list of Expedia (one of the world’s largest online travel service platforms, with a strong presence in Europe and North America) on 10 islands that have recorded strong growth in traveller interest, ranging from romantic retreats to peaceful island destinations across Europe and Asia.

Ranking ninth among the world’s 10 standout islands of 2026, Phu Quoc was described as an ideal choice for travellers wishing to enjoy a luxury holiday at a reasonable price.

According to Expedia, with quality accommodation, increasingly comprehensive services and competitive prices, Phu Quoc is rapidly emerging as one of Southeast Asia’s leading high-end resort destinations.

Expedia’s 2026 list reflects a growing trend among travellers to seek out new island destinations in addition to established favourites. Alongside Phu Quoc, the platform recognised Saint Lucia, Porto Santo (Portugal), Praslin (Seychelles), Syros (Greece), Lofoten (Norway), Palawan (Philippines), Culebra (Puerto Rico), Sanibel (the United States) and Fiji island country.

Phu Quoc is renowned for its white-sand beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, diverse marine ecosystem and mild year-round climate. Beyond its natural scenery, the island attracts visitors with a wide range of distinctive experiences, including exploring Phu Quoc National Park, visiting traditional craft villages, learning about pearl cultivation, enjoying fresh seafood, relaxing at luxury resorts and discovering large-scale entertainment complexes.

Phu Quoc continues to strengthen its position as one of Vietnam’s leading island resort destinations, supported by increasingly convenient transport links, numerous domestic and international air routes, a visa-free policy for international visitors to the island, and a diverse accommodation system offering quality services across different tourism segments.

The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism noted that Phu Quoc has repeatedly been recognised in recent years by international organisations and prestigious global travel publications for its pristine landscapes, beautiful beaches, rich ecosystem, world-class resorts and entertainment facilities, and continuously improving visitor experiences.

Following recognition from other international organisations and awards, Phu Quoc’s inclusion in Expedia’s latest list further confirms the island’s appeal to global travellers.

It also demonstrates the growing competitiveness of Vietnam’s tourism industry in the beach and island resort segment, while helping enhance the country’s international tourism image and attract travellers seeking high-quality, fresh, authentic, and valuable experiences.
