PM hails the Japanese Emperor’s visit as memorable milestone
(VNF) - During his meeting with the Japanese Emperor and Empress in Hanoi on March 2, Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Xuan Phuc described the royal couple's visit to Vietnam as a memorable milestone in bilateral ties.
The PM expressed his delight at the vigorous, comprehensive and practical development of the Vietnam - Japan friendship and cooperation, noting that the trip will enhance their mutual understanding and cooperation in various spheres.
He took the occasion to extend thank to the Japanese royalty for their attention to Vietnam as well as the two nations’ partnership and amity. He also acknowledged the Japanese Government’s effective assistance for Vietnam, particularly in terms of economics, stressing that Japan is now a leading economic and trade partner of the Southeast Asian country.
PM Phuc expressed his appreciation for the contribution made by Japanese enterprises to Vietnam, adding that the Emperor and Empress’ visit will create a new momentum for business-to-business connections in the time to come.

For their part, the Emperor and Empress thanked the Vietnamese people for preserving Japan’s relics in Hoi An and supporting the country in disasters relief after the earthquake and tsunami in 2011.
At the meeting, the two sides also highlighted historical links and cultural similarities shared by Vietnam and Japan, such as wet rice cultivation, sericulture and the love for peace, which serve as a solid foundation for bilateral relations.
PM Phuc also took this opportunity to invite members of Japanese royal family to visit Vietnam on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties establishment in 2018. He also voiced his wish to see the Emperor and Empress again during his visit to Japan in the near future./.
