The 2017 Future of Asia Conference will have as its main theme “Globalism at a crossroads - Asia's next move”.
Around the globe, populist movements are questioning the benefits of globalization and free trade. Brexit and the outcome of the U.S. presidential election showed that a more inward-looking mindset has been taking root among citizens frustrated with inequality and immigration.
With the temptation of protectionist and exclusionary policies are spreading to other parts of the world and clouding the global economic outlook, ASEAN and international leaders will join the discussions and find out how these tendencies affect policy and the next move for Asia./.
