With the aim of promoting and introducing Azerbaijan’s tourism potential to the Vietnamese people, during this working trip to Vietnam, the Azerbaijan Tourism Board delegation, together with Azerbaijani travel agencies and hotels, participated in the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo (ITE HCMC 2025) held in early September.
Florian Sengstschmid shared that Vietnam is a favorite destination for Azerbaijani travelers. They enjoy beach holidays in the summer, with many attractive destinations such as Hue, Hoi An, Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Phu Quoc.
“Azerbaijani people have long holidays in March and usually take family trips lasting 10–14 days during this period. However, due to the absence of direct flight connections between the two countries, the number of Azerbaijani visitors to Vietnam remains modest,” said Florian Sengstschmid.
He proposed increasing the organization of charter flights and expressed the desire to hold business-to-business networking sessions to better understand the market, customer characteristics, and business needs, thereby establishing long-term connections.

Overview of the meeting |
The Azerbaijan Tourism Board requested the support of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism in connecting with Vietnamese travel companies to implement these activities. Forms of cooperation could include workshops, online conferences, or in-person meetings.
According to Nguyen Thi Hoa Mai, the potential for tourism exchange between Vietnam and Azerbaijan is very significant. She agreed with the proposals on establishing cooperative relations between the two national tourism authorities, thereby creating opportunities for businesses from both sides to connect and promote tourism activities.
In addition, the two countries’ tourism authorities could organize more famtrips, enabling each side to visit and explore the other’s tourism potential. She also suggested that Azerbaijan provide more information on the characteristics and needs of local tourists so that suitable tourism products can be designed.
Vietnam and Azerbaijan have already implemented reciprocal e-visa policies, allowing stays of up to 90 days. This is a favorable condition for promoting tourism exchange between the two countries.
