The meeting was held on November 11 with the participation of representatives from relevant agencies and units under the Ministry of National Defense and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.
At the meeting, the Head of the Committee and delegates listened to reports from member agencies and units of the Ministry of National Defense Steering Committee on IUU regarding the review and assessment of the implementation of anti-IUU tasks in recent times, as well as orientations for implementation from now until November 30, 2025.

Accordingly, in recent times, the functional forces under the Ministry of National Defense have synchronously and decisively carried out assigned tasks under the direction of the Prime Minister, the Minister of National Defense, and the Chief of the General Staff, who is also the Head of the Ministry of National Defense IUU Steering Committee. A working delegation was organized to inspect anti-IUU efforts at the An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command and Coast Guard Region 4.
At the same time, the Department of Operations, the Border Guard Command, and the Vietnam Coast Guard sent officers to join the working delegation of the National Steering Committee on IUU, chaired by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, to conduct inspections of IUU prevention in Thanh Hoa Province. The Ministry of National Defense continues to maintain 46 vessels on duty in maritime areas, and deploys 3 additional vessel teams to conduct round-the-clock patrols and controls against IUU fishing in adjacent waters.

Speaking at the meeting, Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao praised the results and efforts of the officers and soldiers of agencies and units under the Ministry of National Defense in implementing anti-IUU tasks. To achieve the goal of lifting the yellow card imposed by the European Commission (EC) on Vietnamese seafood exports by November 2025, the Head of the Ministry of National Defense IUU Steering Committee requested relevant agencies under the Ministry of National Defense and the General Staff to study and propose to higher authorities the approval of a plan to use Military aircraft for patrol and monitoring of fishing vessels in the near future. He also requested continued research on strengthening additional on-duty and patrol vessels to improve maritime monitoring effectiveness.
In addition, the Head of the Ministry of National Defense IUU Steering Committee requested functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense to continue reviewing and arranging maritime duty forces in the most reasonable and effective manner. For the Border Guard force, he requested continued coordination with local authorities and relevant functional forces to strictly control vessels entering and leaving ports in their areas, and to enhance the effectiveness of the new fisheries data management software provided by Viettel Group, aiming to improve fishing vessel monitoring both at port and at sea.
