The press conference took place on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), which also marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of Vietnam’s diplomatic service (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025).

According to the Ambassador, Vietnam’s economy has made remarkable progress, transforming from an impoverished, war-torn nation after 30 years of resistance wars into the world’s 32nd largest economy and 25th in terms of purchasing power parity. Vietnam’s GDP is projected to reach USD 490 billion in 2025, with an average annual growth rate of 6–7%. The total import-export turnover in the first seven months of 2025 reached USD 514.7 billion, with a trade surplus of USD 10.18 billion. Foreign direct investment (FDI) reached USD 24.09 billion, primarily in high technology and renewable energy. The multidimensional poverty rate dropped to 4.06%. In the social sector, Vietnam achieved a primary school enrollment rate of 99% and a lower secondary rate of 95%, with average life expectancy increasing to 75 years. Tourism welcomed 17.5 million international visitors in 2024, a significant increase compared to the previous year.
The Ambassador also noted that the most extensive administrative reform in Vietnam’s modern history took effect on July 1, 2025, streamlining the state apparatus by reducing the number of provincial-level administrative units from 63 to 34 and shifting to a two-tier local government model (province - commune). This reform aims to improve state governance efficiency, enhance closeness to the people, serve citizens and businesses, and create a favorable environment for sustainable economic growth. The GDP growth target for 2025 is set at 8% or higher, to reach double-digit growth in the 2026–2030 period.
The Ambassador emphasized that Vietnam’s 80-year achievements of independence are the result of internal efforts and international cooperation, including that with Brazil. The Vietnam-Brazil Strategic Partnership opens up opportunities for sustainable development in economy, trade, services, culture, sports, tourism, diplomacy, science and technology, innovation, and agriculture, while contributing to building a peaceful and prosperous world.
