SNV accompanies Hanoians in reducing the use of beehive stoves

(VNF) - A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was recently signed by the Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV) and the Hanoi Department of Natural Resources & Environment (DONRE), showing the willingness of SNV in helping build a healthier and cleaner city.

SNV accompanies Hanoians in reducing the use of beehive stoves

The MoU is part of the governmental project ”Elimination of beehive stove from Hanoi with biomass advanced cook-stoves," aiming to create access to clean and healthy cooking solutions for locals.

With the signing of the MoU, SNV shows its commitment to join force with Hanoi DONRE on testing all cook-stoves potential for the city's market and ensure the quality of stove selling under program in terms of emission, efficiency and quality, facilitating access to clean and high quality stove at affordable price, thereby addressing indoor air pollution and reduce fuel needs.

30 advanced stoves have been provided for households in two districts of Hoan Kiem and Dong Da for the trial use in February and March. The feedback from the users on the effects of the products will be submitted to Hanoi DONRE for assessment.

In recent years, beehive stoves, which have been used in many urban areas, including Hanoi, have caused negative impacts on the environment and people's health./.
