Minister Guy Barnett said, with strengths in agriculture, mining and tourism, Tasmania wishes to establish a cooperative and winning relationship with a locality in Vietnam to make use of the the two sides' advantages. It is also to develop relations in all fields of mutual benefit, especially trade, investment, agriculture and education-training.

The Minister appreciated the Vietnamese community in Tasmania, with more than 2,000 people, making positive contributions to the state with many leading scientists and successful entrepreneurs.

On the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1973-2023), the Tasmanian Minister of Trade, Energy and Resources hopes to soon welcome Vietnamese delegations to visit and work in the state.

Minister Guy Barnett also accompanied Ambassador Nguyen Tat Thanh to visit the grape farm of Prof. Nguyen Hai Anh, the owner of a successful overseas Vietnamese enterprise. Nguyen Hai Anh is a pioneer in developing a grape farm without using chemical fertilizers to produce wine.

Minister Guy Barnett considered the farm of Prof. Nguyen Hai Anh as a typical development of automatic irrigation technology, using the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) applied to agriculture.

Thanks to her contribution to the development of agriculture and technology, Prof. Hai Anh won the first prize in the agricultural technology competition and received the title AgriFutures by the Australian government, representing the state of Tasmania.

Wine produced from the farm of Prof. Nguyen Hai Anh has won many awards from Australia, exported to many countries and has been in Vietnam with the brand Torch Bearer Vietnam.

During the visit, Ambassador Nguyen Tat Thanh had a meeting with a representative of the Tasmanian Government Education and Training International (GETI). GETI appreciates the number of over 500 Vietnamese international students studying in Tasmania, ranking second among foreign students in the state.

Education institutions in the state, especially the University of Tasmania, are well known for their theoretical and practical programs, which teach students not only how to study and work, but also how to live and practice in a modern social environment.

On this occasion, the Ambassador had a meeting with more than 30 overseas Vietnamese and international students, representing the Vietnamese community in Tasmania. Overseas Vietnamese and students all expressed their belief in the good relationship between the two countries and between Tasmania and Vietnamese localities particularly.

With Australia's decision to open its border to foreigners from February 21, people are extremely excited and look forward to welcoming Vietnamese delegations to visit the state in the near future.

At the meetings, Ambassador Nguyen Tat Thanh expressed pride in the contributions of Vietnamese people in Tasmania particularly and Australia. He said he would pay attention to comprehensively strengthen the state's cooperation with localities, especially coastal localities such as Quang Ninh and Da Lat.

The Ambassador also said that Tasmania can completely become a typical state in expanding and deepening the Vietnam-Australia strategic partnership.
