Technology Connects Vietnamese and Korean Localities

The workshop "Connecting four Vietnamese localities (Can Tho, Kon Tum, Bac Lieu, Thua Thien-Hue) with Anyang City (RoK)" was held by Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnam Korea Business Investment Association (VKBIA) on May 30 in Anyang City.

In 2009, Anyang City became the first one in Korea to receive the government's certificate on operating and developing a smart city.

Visiting Anyang City, the delegation Can Tho, Kon Tum, Bac Lieu and Thua Thien-Hue was invited to the Smart City Integration Center (Anyang City Hall, Gyeonggi, RoK) to experience "Korean smart city." The delegation also visited the Anyang City Industry Promotion Agency and the Electric Power Plant of GS Power Company, GS Group - one of the leading corporations in Korea.

"Exchange activities between the two countries have become much more active since the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2022," said Cho Kwang-hee, Director of Anyang City Industry Promotion Agency at the workshop.

Cho also introduced Anyang City's leading position in industry and technology development in Korea. Anyang city has more than 1800 enterprises and companies.

"Anyang Industry Promotion Agency is the organization that supports the development of enterprises. A mutually beneficial development platform between the two countries is necessary, we are ready to transfer new technologies and promote investment cooperation in Vietnam. We are ready to accompany the VKBIA to coordinate with Vietnamese localities, agencies and businesses," said Cho.

Agreeing with Cho, Deputy Director of Vietnam's Department of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) Trinh Thi Mai Phuong reaffirmed that this trip is a good opportunity for Vietnamese and Korean localities to explore cooperation potentials.

Choi Byung In said at the meeting that cooperation in economy, trade and investment, and people-to-people diplomacy are both driving forces to promote cooperation between the two countries.

"Anyang City is home to many Vietnam-Korean families. There are also international students studying at training institutions in Anyang City. We always create the most favorable conditions for Vietnamese citizens. Together with VKBIA, we are always willing to boose local cooperation between Anyang and Vietnamese localities,” said Choi.

In response, Tran Hai Linh, Chairman of VKBIA Tran Hai Linh agreed to organize more orientations for cooperation and investment opportunites like workshops and delegation visits.
