The family of Ka Hanh and K’Neu, ethnic minorities in Phu Lam commune (Dong Nai province), has just moved into a new, solid house - a gift funded by the organization Les Enfants du Dragon (LEDD). With financial support of 70 million VND, along with assistance from the local authorities and neighbors, the completed house is worth more than originally estimated, becoming a valuable asset and realizing the family’s long-standing dream of stable housing. Ka Hanh said with emotion: “If we only relied on our daily hired labor income, we would never be able to build such a sturdy house.”
Not only Ka Hanh’s family but also dozens of poor households, near-poor households, and people in difficult circumstances in Dong Nai have been supported to build or repair houses in recent years. The newly built solid houses, along with improved clean water systems and sanitation facilities, have brought joy, stability, and hope to many disadvantaged families.

Behind these houses is the tireless effort of the Dong Nai Union of Friendship Organizations. From 2024 until now alone, Dong Nai has implemented 39 foreign non-governmental aid projects with a total committed value of more than 93 billion VND. Thanks to transparent management and ensuring resources reach the right beneficiaries, many foreign non-governmental organizations, overseas associations, and foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises have placed their trust in collaborating.
Korean partners are a typical example. Samsung C&T, through Habitat for Humanity International, has supported the construction of 6 houses, the repair of 62 houses, installation of clean water systems, and improvement of sanitation facilities. The Korea International Trade Association in Vietnam together with the Korean Business Association in Dong Nai sponsored the construction of 11 solid houses in Ta Lai, Tan Phu, and Dinh Quan communes. Hyosung Dong Nai Co., Ltd. alone contributed 700 million VND to the housing support program.
Nguyen Thanh Tri, President of the Dong Nai Union of Friendship Organizations, affirmed that surveying the actual needs of local people has always been the basis for developing mobilization projects. In 2025, the Union is calling for aid for 62 projects, including 10 specifically dedicated to building, repairing, and renovating houses for poor households, people with disabilities, Agent Orange victims, and ethnic minority communities.
At the same time, the provincial Fund for the Poor also plans to add support levels of 80 million VND for building new great unity houses and 40 million VND for repairing houses for poor and near-poor households and particularly difficult cases. This will be an important foundation to continue calling for the joint efforts of foreign non-governmental organizations and FDI enterprises.
By connecting both external and domestic resources, new houses have been and are being built, bringing the joy of stable housing to poor people in Dong Nai – a humanitarian journey rich in community significance.
